After France, Australia wants Google and Facebook to pay for news

France‘s competition authority ordered Google to pay news outlets for using snippets of their content in its search results and in the company’s news aggregation service. Now, Australia is forming a code of conduct that will force Google and Facebook to pay to media businesses for surfacing their content. As reported by ABC News, the federal govt of Australia ordered its competition commission to draw up a mandatory code of conduct for oversight of business deals between tech companies & news organizations, will also include rules on paying news outlets for using their content on platforms such as Google and Facebook.
