Fresh produce supply chain tech startup Veg Route raised $125,000 in pre-seed led by Mohan K and Jai Kumar, Co-founders of city-based fintech Ippopay, Prabhu R, co-founder of M2P Fintech, and UAE-based fintech Foloosi’s founder Omar Bin Brek.
Veg Route is a B2C agritech supply chain platform for fresh produce. It aims to eliminate middlemen by connecting farmers directly to end consumers. Farmers can sell their produce at the best price possible thanks to the technology and data-driven supply chain platform. The funding will allow the startup to strengthen its in-house technology team and expand into new cities. Veg Route currently operates in six southern cities; the startup intends to use the new funds to expand into tier 2 and tier 3 cities through the use of technology. By 2025, it hopes to have reached over 300 cities across the country.
