Amazon India removed products that disable car seatbelt alarms as government pushes for road safety

Amazon India removed products that disable car seatbelt alarms after India's transport minister, Nitin Gadkari, made an appeal to the ecommerce giant.

According to Reuters, Amazon has stated that it takes strict action against sellers who sell any product that violates Indian laws, including unsafe products such as seatbelt alarm blockers. Following the tragic death of Tata's Cyrus Mistry in a car accident, discussions about road safety and the use of seat belts have gained traction. According to reports, Mistry was not wearing a seat belt (in the back seat), which resulted in his death. The incident shed light on the safety features of a car. Passengers in the back seat have no such protection, especially since front seats have airbags and require the use of seat belts.
