Amazon moves SC seeking protection for privileged, confidential digital data under ED probe

Amazon Seller Services, Amazon's Indian marketplace unit, is said to have petitioned the Supreme Court for protection of its privileged and confidential digital data.

According to ET, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is requesting information from the ecommerce giant in a FEMA violation case dating back to 2014. The ED, according to Amazon, has summoned and forced its employees to share confidential information stored on their laptops and phones. Amazon also sought protection for its email correspondence and chats, which it claimed are essential to privacy.
