Amazon pulls out $7.7 billion IPL media rights race

Amazon.com reportedly planning to withdraw from the race to stream Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches, leaving the field open for competitors such as Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries, Disney, and Sony India.

Earlier this year, the US-based ecommerce behemoth, which also operates streaming service Amazon Prime Video, expanded its battle with Indian rival Reliance Industries into the OTT space for the telecast rights to the Indian Premier League, one of India's largest sporting events.
