Appboxo raised $7 million in Series A led by RTP Global where its first investors, Antler and 500 Southeast Asia, plus new backers like SciFi VC, Gradient Ventures (Google’s AI-focused venture fund) and angel investors Huey Lin and Kayvon Deldar also participated.
Appboxo enables developers to transform their apps into super apps by creating their own mini-apps or accessing them through the Appboxo Showroom, a marketplace for third-party developers. Mini-apps are small programmes that run within a larger app and provide additional user engagement and revenue. They gained popularity as a result of "super apps" such as WeChat, Alibaba, and Grab. However, not all developers have the resources of these tech behemoths. Appboxo, based in Singapore, aims to level the playing field.
