Apple's latest patent has revealed a new foldable display that is designed to be crack-resistant. According to Gizmochina, the new patent was issued by the US Patent and Trademark Office and has the patent number US-20230011092-A1.
One of the major problems with foldable devices is their fragility, so this might help. Multiple layers, including a flexible substrate, a thin-film transistor layer, and a protective layer, are present in the display created by the new technology. Since the flexible substrate is the area of the display that is most vulnerable to damage, the protective layer aims to stop cracks from forming there. A patent for a self-healing display has also been granted to the iPhone manufacturer. Another common problem with foldable devices is small scratches on the display, which this technology should make possible.
