Apple stopped accepting debit and credit card payments for subscriptions and app purchases in India

Apple has stopped accepting debit and credit card payments for subscriptions and app purchases in India via its App Store. As of this writing, the Cupertino behemoth only accepts payments via netbanking and the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

Users will no longer be able to use their debit or credit card to purchase apps or subscribe to services such as iCloud+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and Apple One as a result of this development. Users will also be unable to buy or rent movies on Apple TV using their cards. The move is a result of the Reserve Bank of India's new auto-debit rules, which were implemented last year and have disrupted recurring online transactions, particularly for subscription-based services such as over-the-top (OTT) video streaming platforms and music platforms such as Spotify and YouTube Music.
