Breathe Well-being is the latest and second healthtech startup to join the growing list of Indian startups that have laid off workers during the current economic downturn. In the last few weeks, the healthtech startup that provides diabetes reversal solutions to its customers has laid off around 50 employees, or nearly 30% of its workforce.
According to sources, the startup was forced to lay off employees in order to cut costs because it was losing money and was unable to secure a new round of funding. Employees from sales, operations, technology, and talent acquisitions, among other departments, had been let go by the startup. Employees who were affected were offered severance packages based on their notice period. However, it has to be highlighted that the most of the impacted employees were in their probationary period.
