CCI orders probe into the ‘Conduct’ of foodtech behemoths Zomato And Swiggy

The Competition Commission of India (CCI), India's antitrust watchdog, ordered an investigation into the behaviour of foodtech platforms Zomato and Swiggy.

CCI has also directed its Director General (DG) to complete the investigation within the next 60 days. CCI slammed online delivery platforms, saying, "The Commission is of the opinion that there exists a prima facie case with respect to some of Zomato and Swiggy's conduct, which requires an investigation by the DG to determine whether the platforms' conduct has resulted in contravention of the provisions." The platforms are being investigated for a variety of issues, including allegations of a delayed payment cycle, the imposition of one-sided clauses, and exorbitant commissions.
