Centre has requested ecommerce platforms to stop selling non-ISI products

The ministry of consumer affairs has directed major ecommerce players to remove non-ISI marked products from their portals as the government tightens its grip on ecommerce platforms.

The ministry has requested that all non-ISI marked, substandard, or fake ISI marked items be removed from ecommerce platforms. Furthermore, the instruction is particularly applicable to items such as pressure cookers and helmets. The ministry met with ecommerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, and others to discuss the issue. The centre intends to issue a roadmap to the platforms soon, despite providing clear instructions during the meeting. Following the publication of the formal order, ecommerce platforms will face severe consequences, including financial penalties.
