Centre proposes to set up an India Data Management Office to develop a new data policy

The Indian government has proposed to set up an India Data Management Office (IDMO) to frame, manage, and review and revise the National Data Governance Framework Policy on a regular basis (NDGFP).

The IDMO will be established by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) as part of the Digital India Corporation. The IDMO will create rules, standards, and guidelines for the new data policy (NDGFP), which will be published on a regular basis. All ministries and departments will have data management units led by Chief Data Officers.
