CEO Elon Musk dragged the Indian government into a legal battle with microblogging platform Twitter

Tesla CEO Elon Musk dragged the Indian government into a legal battle with microblogging platform Twitter over a failed acquisition bid.

Musk claimed in a countersuit filed in Delaware Chancery Court that Twitter initiated a "risky" litigation against the Indian government, putting the social media company's third-largest market at "risk." Musk was referring to Twitter's July 5 lawsuit against the Union government over certain takedown orders. The Karnataka High Court is currently hearing the case.

In response to Musk's claim, Twitter counsel acknowledged that the company initiated litigation against the Indian government, but added that it did not require Tesla CEO's permission to make any of these decisions. One of the most important takeaways from the countersuit was that Twitter denied Musk's claim that India was its third-largest market. The response came after Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that any investigation could result in the suspension of services in the country, thereby constituting an MAE (material adverse event).
