As quick commerce grows in popularity across the country, it appears that traffic violations by delivery executives for these startups are also on the rise.
On March 30, 2022, Chennai Police conducted a special drive to nab speeding drivers. A total of 978 traffic violations were reported in a single day. Furthermore, the police imposed a fine of INR 1.35 Lakh on these inebriated drivers. Swiggy had the most traffic violations, with 450, followed by Zomato, which had 278. Critics have slammed the 10-minute delivery model, accusing companies of endangering the lives of delivery executives.
