Cyber forensic and training labs established in 28 states to Combat Cybercrime

The government informed Parliament that it is strengthening mechanisms to deal with cybercrime in a comprehensive and coordinated manner.

Cybercrime is on the rise in India, and the government is aware of incidents, including phishing, originating in some parts of the country, including Jharkhand. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State (MoS), responded to a question in the Lok Sabha. Phishing is a type of online fraud in which the attacker poses as a reputable company and defrauds users by directing them to malicious links or attachments. The MoS also stated that dealing with cybercrime is the responsibility of the states and union territories (UTs). He also stated that the government has set aside funds for all states and UTs under the Cyber Crime Prevention Against Women and Children (CCPWC) scheme.
