Disney CEO lays out early digital future plans

Walt Disney Company has outlined a strategy for how the entertainment, theme park, and consumer products conglomerate will use technology to improve storytelling over the next 100 years.

Speaking with Reuters backstage at the company's biennial D23 Expo fan convention, CEO Bob Chapek took great care to avoid the "M-word," or metaverse, despite pushing the company in that direction last year. Disney's vision for the metaverse, according to Chapek, is "next-generation storytelling." He intends to use data gleaned from theme park visits and consumer streaming habits to deliver personalised entertainment experiences from the company's Marvel and Lucasfilm studios, among others.
