DRDO says the recent E-scooter fires in recent months were caused by defects in batteries

According to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the recent E-scooter fires in recent months were caused by defects in batteries, including the designs of the battery packs and modules.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways tasked the Centre for Fire, Explosive, and Environment Safety (CFEES), the DRDO's fire science and engineering arm, with investigating the multiple E-scooter fire incidents. According to reports, the CFEES submitted its report on the E-scooter fire incidents to the ministry last week and has proposed stronger regulations for the country's electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers.
