The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has become the first UAE body to devise a strategy for selling data to other government and private entities.
The plan is consistent with the Dubai Data initiative, which describes itself as "an ambitious strategy where data is shared seamlessly, safely, and securely." It was launched in 2015 as part of the Dubai Data Law. "The project entails developing an operational model to maximise the return on investment from the use of RTA's data and knowledge while maintaining data exclusivity and confidentiality." RTA has become the first government entity in the UAE and the region to implement this approach by undertaking this project," said Mohammed Al Mudharreb (below), RTA's CEO of corporate technology and technical support services sector.
