The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided six premises of the promoters of a fraudulent gaming app, seizing INR 7 crore as proceeds of crime.
"ED has been conducting search operations in Kolkata under the provisions of the PMLA, 2002 (on 10.09.2022) in connection with an investigation relating to the Mobile Gaming Application." "A large amount of cash (more than INR 7 crore) was discovered at the premises," the financial crimes agency said on Twitter. According to ED, the 'E-Nuggets' gaming app was designed to defraud customers. The ED stated that during the initial period, the app rewarded users with a commission and that users could easily withdraw their wallet balance. This instilled trust in users, who began investing heavily in the app in order to earn larger rewards and commissions.
