Edtech platform Vedantu laid off approximately 200 employees


Edtech platform Vedantu laid off approximately 200 both permanent and contractual employees. According to the employee, roughly 70% of her team was asked to leave, and Vedantu offered them two months' salary as severance pay. The majority of those asked to leave were educators with  higher salary bracket.


Vedantu is a platform for interactive online tutoring, claims to have more than 35 million students attending live classes each month, with teachers delivering more than 8 million hours of live instruction. According to one of the employees, the edtech Vedantu routinely fires employees. Another educator who was laid off stated that she was asked to leave because the startup's business model was changing.
