Edtech Unicorn BYJU’S raised $800 million in fresh led by CEO and founder Byju Raveendran where Sumeru Ventures, Vitruvian Partners, and BlackRock also participated. Founder and CEO Byju Raveendran invested $400 million in his personal capacity.


BYJU'S is a worldwide educational technology firm based in India. To broaden its products in the growing ed-tech market, it has also bought Great Learning and EPIC, both based in the United States. As part of its worldwide expansion strategy, the ed-tech platform has been attempting to make greater inroads into the US market and the Latin American region. The company recently revealed plans to focus more on the offline segment in India, with $200 million set aside to expand its tuition centres. It has also opened 80 offline locations in 23 cities, with plans to open another 500 locations in 200 cities this year. According to Byju's, its platform has more than 150 million learners.
