Flipkart has entered the travel industry with the launch of Flipkart Hotels, a hotel booking service.

Flipkart Hotels, billed as a “budget-friendly” service, will be available on the ecommerce app and will allow users to choose from approximately 3 lakh domestic and international hotels. The service will be backed by Flipkart’s OTA arm Cleartrip and will use the ticketing platform’s API to allow users to scout hotels. Flipkart reportedly paid $40 million for Cleartrip in April of last year. To boost bookings, the ecommerce giant will also offer EMI options to Flipkart Hotels users.
