Google is launching a new experiment to combat misinformation in the country. According to Reuters, the initiative will be led by Google’s subsidiary, Jigsaw, and is intended to combat fake news.

The project will include ‘prebunking’ videos from YouTube and other sister social media sites. Prebunking entails flagging videos and specific disinformation well in advance of their distribution. The experiment will be carried out in Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali and will cover various parts of the country. Google’s Jigsaw will create five videos in the languages and then solicit feedback from viewers on how well they identify fake news.
