Judge dismissed Donald Trump's lawsuit against Twitter

A federal judge in California dismissed Donald Trump's lawsuit against Twitter on Friday.

To put it mildly, Trump's argument that the social media company and its then-CEO Jack Dorsey violated his free speech rights failed to persuade Judge James Donato of the Northern District of California. "Plaintiffs' main claim is that defendants "censored" plaintiffs' Twitter accounts, in violation of their First Amendment right to free speech under the United States Constitution," Donato wrote. "Plaintiffs are not starting from a strong position." Donato pointed out the obvious by tossing the suit as it is: Twitter is a private company that is not bound by the First Amendment, which protects Americans from government attempts to limit their freedom of speech. In essence, Twitter, like any other platform, can do whatever it wants when it comes to content moderation.
