India's largest telecom network Reliance Jio's revenues grew 5.3% to $3.1 bn in the December quarter. Profits increased 15.5% to $477 mn over the September quarter riding on a record 25.1 mn subscriber additions. Cumulatively, the network added 40 mn subscribers, highest among telcos in the calendar year CY2020.
Jio now has 410.8 mn subs; Reliance's digital arm also hit an annualised revenue run-rate of $10 bn during the quarter. Jio's average revenue per user (ARPU) reached Rs 151 "with strong overall increase in customer engagement," according to RIL's earnings statement.
The network's total data traffic during the quarter also grew 28.4% to 1,586Cr GB over last year because WFH. Average data consumption per user per month was "strong" at 12.9 GB. While, total voice traffic on Jio went up 18% to reach 97,496Cr minutes.
