Ronnie Screwvala’s upGrad raised $225Mn in funds from James Murdoch’s Lupa Systems LLC & others

Ronnie Screwvala’s upGrad raised $225 million in fresh funding from James Murdoch’s Lupa Systems LLC and Educational Testing Service (ETS) where existing investors such as Temasek Holdings, along with the family offices of billionaires Lakshmi Mittal (of ArcelorMittal SA) and Sunil Bharti Mittal (of Bharti Airtel) also participated.

In collaboration with various universities, upGrad provides higher education courses. It claims to have over a million students registered on its platform. Screwvala has stated that its student population will reach 3 million by the end of FY23. In the same round, upGrad hopes to raise another $100 million at a higher valuation.
