Swiggy's to soon test 'middle-mile' drone delivery

Swiggy reportedly considering drone deliveries to address logistical issues involving product transit from warehouses to mid-city fulfilment centres.

Swiggy's chief technology officer (CTO) Dale Vaz told reporters at the CTOtalk summit in Chennai that the startup is already in contact with authorities and working with drone manufacturers to carry out the pilot. "We want to work with software companies and startups that provide drone-as-a-service." There are also regulations to consider. "The government has approved the flight corridors," Vaz said, according to the EconomicTimes. According to the report, Swiggy will likely use drones for'middle-mile' deliveries from warehouses on the outskirts of Bengaluru or Gurugram in the soon-to-be-conducted pilot.
