Twitter to allow academic researchers full access to its archive

Twitter recently announced to provide access archival information on its database to academic researchers meaning these researchers will have “full history of public conversation”, something only available to users with expensive premium or enterprise access until now.

The Academic Research product track offers full access to public conversation through a full-archive search endpoint; 20-times higher monthly tweet volume cap (10 mn) through Twitter’s developer platform via ‘Standard’ product track & better filtering capabilities for data collection.

The product can be only availed by academics, such as master’s students, doctoral candidates, faculty and so on, affiliated to an academic institution or university. Applicants will need to have a “clearly defined research objective”, and have to use it for non-commercial purposes.
