Uber to hire 85 more engineers in India, part of 225 ongoing engineering hires in India
Uber on announced that it is hiring 85 more engineers in India. This is in addition to 140 engineers that the company said it would hire, last month, thus taking the total number of ongoing engineering hires in India to 225.
Uber also announced Amazon veteran, Manikandan Thangarathnam as senior director, who will lead all rider and platform engineering teams in Bangalore.
Elaborating on the roles of various teams at Uber, the company noted that mobility and platform teams are responsible for building all technologies that move riders and enable drivers to earn on a dynamic marketplace platform in cities across the world.
Uber further noted that the Rider mobility team works on the challenge of enabling the next billion trips by building new services including high capacity vehicles (Uber bus), and car rentals, among others. The Marketplace team is building a highly-available and scalable self-serve gateway to configure, manage, and monitor Application Programming Interfaces (API) of every business domain at Uber, the company concluded.
