ACCRA, GHANA – In a historic move for the West African tech ecosystem, Startup World Cup, the planet’s largest startup pitch competition, is officially coming to Accra, Ghana. Hosted by Pegasus Tech Ventures in partnership with Ghana Investment & Trade Week (GITW), the regional qualifier will take place from 7–9 July 2026 at The Palms Convention Center.
This high-stakes event offers Ghanaian entrepreneurs a direct pipeline to Silicon Valley, where they will compete for a $1,000,000 (USD) investment prize at the Grand Finale on November 6, 2026, in San Francisco, California.
A Gateway to Silicon Valley and Global Funding
The Startup World Cup is the premier global stage for innovation. With over 100 regional events across 60 countries, the competition connects local founders with a massive network of international investors, corporate partners, and global media.
Why the Accra Regional Matters:
The $1M Prize: The regional winner from Accra secures a coveted spot at the Grand Finale to pitch for a life-changing $1 million investment.
Global Visibility: Participating startups gain exposure to high-tier venture capitalists and industry leaders from Silicon Valley and beyond.
Ecosystem Growth: By aligning with GITW 2026, the competition integrates tech innovation with traditional sectors like infrastructure, energy, and trade.
"Bringing the Startup World Cup to Accra through GITW is more than an event; it is a gateway for African innovation to step onto the global stage," says David Wang, CEO of MIE Events.

Fueling Ghana's Economic Future
Beyond the competition, Ghana Investment & Trade Week (GITW) serves as a critical platform for sustainable development. By uniting professional bodies—such as the Ghana Institute of Architects and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)—with tech innovators, the event fosters public-private partnerships that drive national growth.
For startups, this is the ultimate launchpad. For investors, it is a curated window into the most promising innovations coming out of Africa.
Don't miss the chance to witness the next billion-dollar idea emerge in Accra this July.
